New cell phones are hitting the market every single day, with this there are many new features being added a phone is no longer just used for calling and text messages you are now able to play music, watch TV and even get the latest sports results using Internet access.

Most people only use cell phones without ever thinking about the effects it can have on their health. I am sure you have heard the “cancer rumors.” Many years ago I was told that holding a mobile phone to your ear can cause you to get cancer. I didn’t want to die of cancer but at the time I didn’t have a doctor telling me that this was factual information, so like most people I shrugged it off as another myth. Mobile phones can affect our health in ways that we would never think of; this can be directly or indirectly. Did you know that there was a study conducted and a link was found between people who are addicted to cell phone usage (either text messaging or talking) and having a low self-esteem?  This may sound strange to the average individual but when you think about it, it does make sense. People who suffer from low self-esteem are usually very withdrawn and keep to themselves, these are usually the people who would rather stay at home, look at television and text message a person or send an email opposed to talking on the telephone or having face to face meetings.

There are a lot of bacteria on cell phones. Have you cleaned your cell phone lately? If you have not, would you know how to clean your cell phone if you had to? People do a lot of activities while on their cell phone and seldom wash their hands. Think about how many people have spoken on or touched your phone this week alone. Do you think you still want to put your phone close to your mouth now?

Being sleep deprived can cause a lot of health concerns within our bodies. Most teenagers are text crazy right now. Although you may not be able to speak on your phone past a certain hour, it doesn’t hurt to text message right? Wrong, most people do not keep up with the time when they are text messaging and this can lead to messages being sent and receive all hours of the night when you should be asleep. You need your eight hours of sleep or more each night.
